Mollis airfield is located in a quiet valley in the Glarus Kanton. It mainly hosts General Aviation and some helicopter operations. Mollis was selected by Koptergroup (former Marenco Swiss Helicopter) for the development of the SH09 helicopter and its final assembly. In order to assess the noise impact of the SH09 operations on the surrounding communities a permanent IBANET noise and track monitoring system was installed and operated by Anotec. This system consists of 3 fixed stations located in the villages around the airport. A 4th station is located on the airport premises, with the aim to provide a permanently available noise measurement station, to support product development without the need for dedicated flight tests.
